Woodland Trust

An excellent organisation protecting, planting and supplying native trees. Lots of information about woodland habitat and species that live in woodlands, activities for families and children, and they provide trees free to schools. They have a group called Nature Detectives http://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/naturedetectives/ which is particularly good for younger children.
