The Global Forest Biodiversity Initiative is “an international multi-stakeholder team of foresters and forest scientists”, their website provides loads of data and research on the global extinction crisis and its impacts on ecosystem functioning ie “everything is connected”. A free login is required to access much of the data. One of their findings is that if we plant 1.7 trillion trees we would go a long way to reducing atmospheric carbon and making our climate more stable
