I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to tell you about a newly published collection of essays from young people across the world which I think could be a valuable resource for teachers across the UK. United We Are Unstoppable is an inspiring collection which could help young people engage in discussions around climate change and learn more about its global impacts.

The book has been edited by Bloomberg News journalist Akshat Rathi, who brought together 60 young people from 41 countries to share their stories of fighting climate change. It’s a fantastic collection that highlights the broad range of issues affecting young people across the world as well as the innovative solutions they have identified. The book is very accessible for young readers, and I believe pupils could gain a lot from its insight into the experiences of other young people across the world, including those who are already witnessing the devastating effects of the climate crisis.

Below, you will find a bit more information about United We Are Unstoppable. Released last month, the book is now available for purchase. The majority of the proceeds from the book will be given to a children’s charity. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch, and I’d also be more than happy to put you in touch with Akshat to further discuss the book.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

The spark was Greta Thunberg sitting alone outside the Swedish parliament in 2018 with a wooden sign that read Skolstrejk för Klimatet (School Strike for Climate). In just over a year, more than 1.4 million people from 128 countries had joined the young protestors on the streets to make their message heard loud and clear: act now before it’s too late.

We are still in the middle of a pandemic, but climate activism matters now more than ever. The policies put in place now to support economic recovery will determine our climate fate.

United We Are Unstoppable brings together the stories of 60 young people from 41 countries spanning every continent working to combat climate change. These stories are devastating, defiant, inspiring and moving – but, above all, they are full of hope. The climate crisis can feel overwhelming but, as this book shows, for every problem there are young voices raising awareness, creating solutions and demanding that things change. It’s not too late to save the world. United, we really are unstoppable.

Aditya Mukarji (16) stopped 26 million straws from polluting the oceans.

Cecilia La Rose (15) filed a lawsuit against the Canadian federal government for contributing to global warming.

Kaze Delphin (19) founded a company that produces eco-charcoal from organic waste in Burundi.
